I'm Rosy - the founder and designer at Studio Sturt, a residential interior design studio based in Chichester, West Sussex.

I am a firm believer that good design is all about feeling. Our homes and the things we surround ourselves with - art, furniture, textiles - should bring us joy everyday. I am passionate about colour theory and the impact our surroundings have on our mental wellbeing.

Studio Sturt homes are designed to be layered, lived-in and loved. Whether you want a calming sanctuary or an energising, sociable space, each room is designed around a desired feeling to create homes that are both beautiful and functional. Studio Sturt love mixing pattern and colour in playful ways whilst honouring the history and period of a property. I design homes based on traditional English design with a playful and contemporary twist, creating spaces that reflect each client's personality.

I pride myself on building positive relationships and provide an extremely personalised service. At every stage of the project, I will be there to take care of all the details; any stress of transforming your home will be out of your hands so that you can enjoy the process.

I aim to support local businesses, champion craftsmanship, use products designed and made in the UK, and design with sustainability and longevity at the forefront.

Meet Rosy

After earning a first class degree from the University of Chichester, I began my career as a primary school teacher, working in schools in the UK and Serbia. I then became an alternative provision teacher, provided education consultancy and worked for an education resource provider. Spanning over ten years, I have taught hundreds of children and have had a very rewarding career.

When I hit my 30's, I decided it was time to put into action something I had been thinking about for years - a career in interior design. â€‹I set up a small tuition business and alongside working full time, I began studying (and eating, sleeping, breathing!) interior design, gaining as much experience as possible.

Fast forward a few years, I secured an industry job working with an established, SBID accredited designer where I was involved with all aspects of the design process from concept to completion. I learnt a huge amount and gained confidence in my ability as a designer. In 2025, I launched Studio Sturt. I have carried out design consultations, worked on a number of small residential projects and landed my largest project to date - a renovation in Hampshire - in October 2025. I am a Provisional Associate Member of the British Institute of Interior Design, recognised as a practising interior designer working in accordance with BIID professional standards.  â€‹

Living in the West Sussex countryside and growing up by the sea, I have a love and appreciation for nature's beauty, which is something that heavily inspires my designs; often those lightbulb moments come when I'm out walking with my energetic cocker spaniel!
